In the wake of last week’s horrific events, Nike announced Monday it would be pulling all of its ‘Boston Massacre’ t-shirts, originally created in reference to the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. Most people thought Nike made the right call. A commenter on this site wrote that wearing the shirt
would be “tactless” and that if Nike hadn’t pulled the tees it would have been “tasteless.” So we were surprised to find that the recalled t-shirt is not only still in demand, but it’s also more valuable than ever–at least on eBay, where it’s going for $150,000 and already has 131 bids.We don’t know what’s more disturbing: That an eBay seller is trying to profit off a national tragedy, or that 131 people are willing to pay $150,000 to help him do it.To buy a t-shirt that honors Boston victims–with 100% of the proceeds going to The One Fund–go here for Adidas’s Boston Strong t-shirt.
