According to a report in the New York Daily News, Harlem resident Starkeema Greenidge is suing cosmetics giant, MAC. Why, you ask? She alleges she contracted herpes at Rihanna’s Brooklyn Barclays concert after having a used tube of the singer’s RiRi Woo lipstick applied by one of the company’s representatives. “I wasn’t able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money,” said the 28-year-old waitress in a statement to the Daily News. After
developing a cold sore on her lip two days following the concert, she visited a doctor who then gave her the diagnosis. Greenidge claims it has since caused her “mental anguish and emotional distress.” “This is going to happen over and over again if nothing is done,” she continued. She hopes her choice to sue the cosmetics brand will force them to practice more sanitary habits in the future. The suit says the employee told her to “press her lips together and spread the lipstick around,” It also reads, “(MAC) didn’t use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons. “(MAC) should have known . . . it was unsanitary and exposing patrons to possible spread of disease.”
