Luxury Swiss jeweller de Grisogono had a high-jewellery necklace - worth €2 million (£1.7 million) - stolen at the Cannes Film Festival. According to the jeweller, the piece went missing after its annual festival party - held at the Eden Roc Hotel - last Tuesday, despite over 80 security guards and local police being in attendance. "These incidents are rare; it is
actually the first time it has happened in our 20-year history," said founder and creative designer Fawaz Gruosi. "However, when they occur one must be proactive and collaborate with the authorities".
The theft marks the second high-profile jewellery robbery at this year's film festival. Over €1 million (£650,000) worth of Chopard jewellery was stolen from the Novotel hotel last week.
