Ottavio Missoni, co-founder of Italian fashion house Missoni, passed away this morning at the age of 92. The designer had quite an illustrious career, first as a soldier in WWII, (he was captured by the Egyptians in El Alamein and held as a POW for four years), and as an
Olympian at the 1948 London Olympics, where he met his wife and business partner, Rosita. The Missonis set up their brand soon after they wed, and quickly became popular for their aesthetic of mixing and matching colors and print, and, of course, their famous zigzag pattern. Ottavio died in the comfort of his home in Sumirago.
