Three of New York's leading model agencies - Wilhelmina, Ford and Elite Models Management - today face controversy over allegations that they have been cheating clients out of money.
A new lawsuit, spearheaded by model Louisa Raske (pictured left), claims that the agencies have been providing talent with inaccurate financial statements; concealing client funds; and using models' money for expenses. Court papers maintain that models lost a collective $20 million (£12 million), from the dubious accounting and clients were told that they would "never again model in New York" if they sued the agencies, the New York Post reports.
"Each of the modelling agencies has money in its accounts that rightfully belongs to models, that is being used by the modelling agencies and which has not been paid to models," the lawsuit says.
