About Funke Bucknor-Obruthe
Funke Bucknor- Obruthe has always known she was not going to practice Law, while she was studying Law in the University of Lagos. Her love for public relation prompted her to make this decision early in life, before she ventured into the labour market. Why study Law in the first place? You may ask. The answer is not far-fetched from one of the reason why many young people in our higher institution of learning are studying courses that is directly opposite to where their passion lies- she studied Law because she wanted to satisfy her parent's wish.
Immediately after she finished her Law school in year 2000. She worked briefly in St. Matthew Daniel and Balogun Law Firm for four weeks and later joined Tie Communications, an advertising company. Along the line, Funke desired a change in her job after realizing the company does more of advertising, instead of her first love, which is in Public Relation. And this spurred her to start what is today known as ZAPPHAIRE EVENTS, an events consulting, planning, marketing and management company. This outfit she founded some years ago is today setting the pace for others to follow in the business of events planning in Nigeria.
Today, there is no way you will talk about the pioneers of events planning in Nigeria without talking about Funke Bucknor- Obruthe. When she ventured into events planning back then in 2003, she was practically the second person to start events planning in Nigeria. The first wedding she ever coordinated after setting-up her outfit was Florence Duru's wedding. After that, she has also planned events for the likes of Florence Ita- Giwa, John Momoh, Titi Atiku, Late President Yaradua's daughter and Late Solomon Ayoku's, just to mention a few. She is today doing what she loves doing and yet making money from it.
