Andy Warhol–whose fame has lasted a lot longer than 15 minutes–is the inspiration behind a massive new makeup range by Nars. The line, which will launch at different retail outlets in October and November, coincides nicely with a new Warhol exhibit–opening at the Met in NYC–which explores the pop artist’s influence on other artists.
Francois Nars told WWD that he discovered Warhol when he was 12 or 13, saying, “I remember being so drawn to the colors–so bright and graphic.” And now those colors are coming to makeup counters near you.
The range is going to be offered as two separate collections–one (a Sephora exclusive) is influenced by Pop Art and the other (for department stores) has a more downtown, Factory vibe. The packaging will feature Warhol quotes and muses like Edie Sedgwick, Debbie Harry, and Candy Darling.
Some of the standouts that we love already? The Debbie Harry Cheek and Eye Palette ($65) and the Kiss Mini Larger Than Life Lip Gloss Coffret ($55) which features five new lip glosses in a soup can covered in Warhol’s lip print. The Photo Booth mini nail polish set ($35) will no doubt fly off the counters, too. You’ll be able to snag the Sephora collection October 1 and the department store collection November 1.
